MPs in Afghanistan

October 18th, 2010

There’s a series of articles that starts today at Slate.com looking at the job MPs face training the Afghan National Police. I’m not quite sure what the thrust of the series is, but my initial read is that it is not an optimistic perspective. That said, Military Police are central to the COIN strategy, since their training is most similar to the type of skills both American and Afghan forces will need to overcome the insurgency. It will be interesting to see what challenges the author finds the MPs facing, and what solutions might be found to solve those problems (if they can be solved).
